Vascular safety: the renewed value of ex vivo models in early drug development

How can you select relevant vascular tissues for your drug candidate? A collaborative study by PhysioStim and Boehringer Ingelheim provides evidence to inform preclinical study design and the interpretation of findings for humans.

PhysioStim will attend the EASD Annual Meeting 2026, bringing together the international scientific community to discuss the latest advances in diabetes and cardiometabolic research. Lukas Roubenne, PhD, CHIEF OF R&D, will represent PhysioStim and share our latest developments in HFpEF modeling and cardiometabolic drug screening.

This model was designed by PhysioStim’s research team, leveraging strong expertise in cardiometabolic diseases and human stem cell–based technologies to advance preclinical cardiovascular research.

PhysioStim is pleased to participate in ISHR-ES 2026, the 39th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Heart Research – European Section, a key scientific event dedicated to cardiovascular research.

PhysioStim recently hosted a webinar dedicated to the development of a more predictive human in vitro model for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). This webinar, led by Lukas Roubenne, PhD, Chief of R&D, and Bruno Le Grand, PhD, CSO, offered the opportunity to present PhysioStim’s latest advances in HFpEF modeling and to share insights into the scientific rationale behind this new approach.

This review was authored by Bruno Le Grand (PhD), whose deep expertise in cardiovascular pharmacology and extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry bring both rigor and insight to this work.
